"IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD"

27 REACTIVE INSTALLATIONS BY 3KTA FOR 300 ABSOLUT VODKA PARTIES PROMOTED BY G2.

Our client G2 Madrid, organized a set of events that aim to promote the Absolut Vodka brand, those events take place in different discotheques, bars, pubs and other similar places in the Spanish country. For these purpose, the client hired us to Design and Program a reactive system that uses a laser pointer and video tracking technology. This system allows the users to: choose images from a image bank, to draw over the chosen image, automaticaly the system records in the hard disk of a computer the resulting image. Four times each night, the system presents images that represent prizes for the users. This reactive system is based on the interface we designed and developed for GRAFFONIC. This is a work in progress, the campaign is taking place until October 2008, this web page will be updateed with photos and videos from the installations during the parties.

Hardware
We Designed a custom metal box to accomodate all necessary devices to run each one of this installations. This 27 metal boxes are modular for easier transport and were constructed by NIXFUSTE at Porto.

We Redesigned the "laser can" using more resistent plastic tubes and newer electronic components. The cans were assembled by Henrique and Pedro; the electronic wiring was made by Engenier Castro Freitas and the Final assembling by 3kta.

Software
Custom software was Designed and Programmed by 3kta to suite the system and client needs. We used the graphical programming environement Max/MSP and some of the brilliant Jitter objects. We also Designed a custom GUI for a easier set up and callibration of the system.

How To
In order to assure the correct setup of all the 27 installations we designed a user manual and a workshop that was lectured to the persons that will set up the installations in the 300 summer parties.

We Designed and taught a workshop to the marketing team responsable to distribute and set up all the 27 installations during the 300 parties. This workshop was focused on how to set up the hardware and the custom software.
